Songkran Surat 2557

Every April Thailand marks their New Year with an epic country-wide water fight symbolizing a sort of ritual cleansing. This year, 2557, I got to see the madness first hand in Suratthani where the entire city was out in full force having a blast. Buckets, hoses, SuperSoakers, bowls, basins.. anything that could hold water or project was in use. The roads were packed with trucks full of people and every single person was getting in on the fun. Down near the pier they had a stage set up with live music, fountains, a fire hose, and bubble machine! I knew it was going to be awesome... but I had no idea that any one holiday could be so much fun!! Once again I am amazed and in awe of the Thai people, their great sense of humor and ability to have a good time! As one of the few foreigners in town I was an easy, and hilarious target, but I was having a great time getting drenched! The best part was their reactions though they would just throw huge amounts of water in your face and laugh hysterically!!! Definitely going down as the most fun day in Thailand yet!!!!!
